Understanding Bonus Rules

Overview of referral bonuses and recruiting bonuses that can be automatically applied to transactions.

What are Bonus Rules?

Bonus rules automatically pay bonuses to agents when specific conditions are met. There are two main types: referral bonuses (paid to agents who referred the transacting agent) and recruiting bonuses (paid to agents who recruited the transacting agent). These bonuses are automatically calculated and applied when transactions close.

Referral vs. Recruiting Bonuses

  • Referral Bonus: Paid to the agent who referred the transacting agent to the brokerage. This rewards agents for bringing in new talent.
  • Recruiting Bonus: Paid to the agent who recruited the transacting agent. This rewards successful recruiters.
  • Both types can be configured with conditions and payment structures.

How Bonus Rules Work

When a transaction closes, the system checks if the transacting agent has a referring agent or recruiting agent linked in their profile. If bonus rules are configured and conditions are met, the system automatically calculates and applies the bonus payment.

Bonus Rule Conditions

Bonus rules can have conditions that determine when they apply. For example, a rule might only pay bonuses to agents on specific commission plans, or only after the transacting agent has completed a certain number of transactions.

Payment Structure

Bonuses can be paid as a percentage of commission (e.g., 2% of company share) or as a fixed dollar amount (e.g., $500 per transaction). You also specify whether the bonus comes from the company's share or the agent's share of the commission.

Bonus rules are separate from distribution rules. Bonus rules are specifically for referral and recruiting rewards, while distribution rules handle other types of commission sharing.
